Urban Tantra Newsletter
January 2010

2010 is filled with ecstatic possibilities.
Hello everyone,
Last year ended on a real high note with the inauguration of the Urban Tantra® Professional Training Program in New York City. There were attendees from six countries! Urban Tantra® is really going global and I am thrilled. The Professional Training Program was such a success, I was immediately asked by folks on the west coast when I could bring it to them. The answer: May 2010. Plans are being finalized now. If you are interested in receiving updated information just as soon as we have it, please contact Donia Love at donia@urbantantra.org and and we'll provide you with the latest news and registration information.
The big news for 2010 is that I have just signed a contract with Hay House for a new book. (For those of you who heard me insist that I would never put myself through the authoring process again, well, what can I say? I guess it really is a bit like childbirth in that the brain blocks the memory of the pain once you hold the awesomeness of the finished result in your hands.) In this new book I'll teach you how to transform sexual shame, guilt, fears, inhibitions and limitations into infinite sexual and spiritual possibilities. I'll give you a unique system for finding out what you really, really want and how to get it. The book will also explain how sex works—not just in the genitals but in the brain. I am very eager to get started, so I'll be trimming back my teaching schedule a bit to give myself time to write.
One of the places I will be appearing is at Hay House's I Can Do It® Conference in Toronto in May. If you register now you can take advantage of the early-bird discount. You'll not only be able to attend my workshop, you'll also hear from some of the most inspiring authors and speakers in the world. (See details below.)
But you do not have to wait until May to attend an awesome conference. If you are looking for an event to stoke your inner fires during the dark and cold winter months, sign up now for Dark Odyssey Winter Fire. I'm really excited about this February's event. I am debuting a new workshop: Tell Me What You Want, What You Really Really Want, and in collaboration with my friends and colleagues Mark Michaels and Patricia Johnson, I'll be co-leading Dark Odyssey's first ever Tantric Maithuna Ritual. If you have been promising yourself the Dark Odyssey experience but haven't signed up, what are you waiting for? Register before it sells out.
For those of you who have been asking for a workshop in the New York City area, I'll be celebrating the Spring Equinox with Urban Tantra: Sacred Sex for the 21st Century at the Open Center. We all had a wonderful time at the Open Center last spring, and this year I am especially eager to present this workshop in the Open Center's brand new space. Whether you are single or a couple (or something else entirely) come celebrate spring with breath, ecstatic practices and laughter.
Ecstatic exercise for January: In the darkness and cold of the winter we bundle up in layers of clothes and tend to be more sedentary, and often, more serious. Here's a partner exercise to work out the kinks and get your energy moving. It also provides just the right silliness quotient. You can do it with a friend or a lover or even a family member: Vibrate your partner, starting at the top of their head and working your way down their body. The vibrations don't have to be hard, but they should be fairly rapid. Go gently on the head; be more vigorous on the arms, hands, buttocks, and legs. After you've vibrated them into giddy delight, switch—it's your turn to receive.
Wishing you passion, peace and plenty all year long...
Ecstatically yours,
Barbara

Tantra is not only a sexual practice, it also is a sensuous way of life and a path to spiritual growth and fulfillment. On the Tantric path, pleasure, vision and ecstasy are celebrated and can be as available in everyday life as they are in peak sexual experiences. In this workshop, you'll learn Tantric techniques for intense full-bodied orgasms, amazingly deep, heart-centered connections (with a partner or with yourself), and the bliss that comes when your spiritual and sexual paths are one.
